Corp Docs · The StackDX Story

Where we came from, what we stand for, where we're taking it.

A living document. Read it end-to-end when you start, come back to it when the roadmap shifts, and edit it when the reality on the ground has moved past the words on the page.

Draft. This is the first pass — dates, milestones, and specifics need to be filled in by leadership. Treat the shape as final; treat the details as placeholder.
01

History

How we got here, in as few words as we can manage.

StackDX started with a stubborn observation: the tools businesses use to run their data are strong on their own and weak together. Every team that touched revenue — sales, finance, ops — was rebuilding the same joins in a different spreadsheet, and nobody trusted anyone else's numbers.

We built the first version of StackDX to fix that for one company. Then a second asked for it. Then it stopped being a favor and started being a product.

YEAR ONE
Founded
Two founders, a shared frustration, and one very patient design partner. (TBD — exact date.)
YEAR TWO
First paying customer
A revenue dashboard for a mid-sized services firm — the same shape as the one you can open from the hub today.
YEAR THREE
Team of ten
First engineering hires, first ops hire, and the first time we had to write down what "how we work" actually meant.
TODAY
The operating layer
A platform, a product surface, and a growing base of customers who trust one number instead of arguing about three.
02

Culture

The five things we believe about how good work happens.

01

Truth over comfort

Say the real thing. It's kinder than a soft signal that leaves everyone guessing.

02

Ship, then iterate

A rough version in a customer's hands beats a perfect one on a Figma canvas.

03

One number

If we can't agree on the number, we haven't finished the work. Reconcile, then decide.

04

Own it end-to-end

The person who saw the problem is the person who owns the fix — until it's fixed.

05

Leave it better

Every doc, every dashboard, every codepath. Small deltas compound; sloppy deltas rot.

06

Default to open

Write it down where the team can find it. If it's not in a shared place, it doesn't exist.

"We're not here to build software. We're here to make the numbers legible so the people who run companies can stop guessing." — Founding memo
03

Future

Where we're pointed, in three horizons.

The bet is straightforward: businesses are drowning in the systems they bought to help them, and someone has to stitch them together into a single, honest picture. Not another dashboard. The layer underneath the dashboards.

Horizon 1 · Now

Make the numbers trustworthy.

  • Reliable connectors — Pipedrive, QuickBooks, Zoho, Stripe.
  • One canonical revenue view, refreshed daily.
  • Every dashboard traceable to a source row.
Horizon 2 · Next

Make the numbers act.

  • Forecasts that update themselves.
  • Anomaly signals routed to the person who can fix them.
  • Self-serve dashboards without an engineer in the loop.
Horizon 3 · Later

Become the operating layer.

  • An open surface every business tool can plug into.
  • Playbooks the platform can run on your behalf.
  • The default answer to "where do our numbers live?"

None of this happens in a straight line. What stays constant is the direction — and the expectation that the person reading this today is one of the people bending the curve.
